SCAE - Introduction to coffee

For: coffee farmers, coffee lovers and coffee professionals

This course is designed to be an introduction to the world of specialty coffee. This course offers basic knowledge on coffee from its history, how its grown, and examines the coffee value chain. Anyone without prior knowledge on coffee should consider taking this course first.

Students will learn:

  • History and Origin of coffee
  • Coffee, from seed to cup
  • Overview of coffee roasting
  • Brewing methods
  • Sampling coffee flavours

We require a minimum of 6 students to run the class on the stipulated dates, if we do not meet the requirement, students will be informed accordingly and moved to the next available date.

The course provides you with the key information to enable you to sit your Introduction to Coffee certification that consists of a short practical exam and a written exam (25 questions with a pass rate of 60% required). successful students will be awarded 10 points towards the SCAE Coffee Diploma.
